The Sasquatch Standard:

An Origin Story of Conflict and Redemption

We never just wanted to be "another roofer." Co-owners Steve Schroeder and Andrew McKenzie founded this company on a singular, almost mythical goal: to deliver absolute, unquestionable structural security—a roof so flawlessly installed, homeowners could forget it existed.

But the industry they saw was a frustrating mess. It was the Contractor Merry-Go-Round you’re tired of: surprise fees, crews that left behind a forest floor mess of nails and debris, and cheap materials that failed in a few years. It was clear the industry lacked a core standard. It lacked The Sasquatch Standard.

The Epiphany hit Steve and Andrew: The problem wasn't the material; it was the process. They realized that chasing leaks and patching problems was the easy, cheap way out. To deliver on the promise of peace of mind, they needed a system so rigorous, so detailed, and so focused on eliminating risk—a system that demanded the same flawless, leave-no-trace mentality of a great woodsman. They had to stop selling commodity roofing and start selling the Protocol.

That discovery is what led them to map out the 5-Point Zero-Risk Installation Protocol.

It wasn't easy to launch. Implementing the Protocol meant demanding more from their crews (the Bigfoot Method of quality control), firing suppliers who wouldn't meet the standards for the 3-Layer Durability Seal, and slowing down the job to ensure every single checkpoint was passed. But the results were undeniable. We were no longer selling commodity roofing; we were selling the Zero-Risk Protocol—a unique system that finds and eliminates the financial and structural risks others miss. Our clients finally sleep soundly knowing their investment is backed by The Sasquatch Standard.

The Moment We Stopped Being Contractors—And Started Being Champions

We, the founders—Stephen Shroeder and Andrew McKensie—didn't start out wanting to change roofing; we just wanted to be honest roofers.

But the longer we worked in the industry, the more disgusted we became with the game. We saw good people, friends and neighbors, trapped on the Contractor Merry-Go-Round.

The Day Everything Changed

It's the system built on uncertainty. A homeowner is forced to choose between the lowest bid (which guarantees cut corners and unreliable warranties) and the highest price (which often means paying a premium with zero real accountability).

Every contractor promises "quality work," but when the inevitable leak happens a year later, no one answers the phone. The customer always trades hard-earned money for crippling anxiety.

We got tired of seeing good people pay for bad roofs. So we built a system so bulletproof, even a storm can't outsmart it.

Why the Old Way Was Broken

Our frustration wasn't a business problem; it was an ethical one. We realized the problem wasn't a few bad contractors; the entire industry protocol was fundamentally broken.

It was not engineered to protect the customer over the long term, resulting in constant financial risk. We knew, with absolute certainty, that we had to quit the "contracting" game and become something radically different.

"We didn't set out to create a new company; we were forced to because the existing standard options were robbing people of their peace of mind."

This frustration led to our Aha Moment: What if the installation process itself—and every guarantee surrounding it—could be engineered to eliminate risk entirely?

What if a 25-year warranty didn't rely on hoping the contractor was still in business, but on a proprietary, proven system?

The Birth of the Sasquatch Standard

That revelation was the genesis of the 5-Point Zero-Risk Protocol. We brought together the toughest inspectors and most disciplined installers (our legendary "Sasquatch Dream Team") to engineer a new process from the ground up—one that was so obsessed with integrity and accountability that it eliminated failure by design.

It felt like chasing a legend—a mythical standard of perfection that couldn't exist in the messy world of construction. That's why we embraced the name: The Sasquatch Standard.

We built the 5-Point Zero-Risk Protocol not to sell a roof, but to sell certainty. It's the proprietary system that guarantees a better outcome, protects your investment, and puts an end to the "Contractor Merry-Go-Round" forever.

We didn't want to be heroes, but after seeing the pain of the old way, we had no choice but to create the Sasquatch Standard.
